Building, grilling
Still no work today, but it's the
weekend anyway. I have rules...
With
only a little help from me (really, just a little!), James played with wooden
blocks, stacking them high. This is remarkable only in that, until recently,
James has usually preferred knocking things
down.-----I
spent much of the late afternoon cleaning and working on our gas grill (actually
a gas/charcoal hybrid). Yes, my favorite is my 18.5" diameter (not 22.5") Weber
One Touch Silver charcoal grill, but we do have the gas grill for quick grilling
and for Hsuan to use. In fact, when I went out to Home Depot for parts, I was
disappointed to find that Home Depot didn't have the higher end Weber charcoal
grills to which I was hoping to upgrade. I wanted at least the Weber One Touch
Gold, but the most they had was the Weber One Touch Silver at 22.5". Maybe I'll
just settle for getting the larger
size. Most of the grills that Home
Depot has on display are gas grills. Dozens of models. What's wrong with
people? Don't they know that charcoal is the best way to
grill?Anyway, despite Hsuan using our
gas grill, it hasn't been cleaned in over a year. Lots of crud -- carbonized
food, grease, etc. in the bottom of the grill. In fact, I found evidence by way
of droppings that rodents, probably rats, have visited the grill through the
bottom ventilation holes in order to forage for whatever non-carbonized food
bits they could find. Needless to say, I cleaned and disinfected everything
thoroughly, multiple times. I also replaced the burners and some other parts.
The grill hasn't been quite as hot as it used to be. With the new burners, it
gets much hotter, but it's still not as hot as charcoal.
