Happy Mothers' Day

At Disneyland, too!

Did the usual: The boys made Hsuan personalized Mothers' Day cards at daycare. I had bought them a Mothers' Day card to sign and give to her before I knew they made cards, though I probably should have assumed they would. I also got her a card myself -- a shockingly expensive one that the cashier said "This costs N dollars" by way of giving me the option of backing out in case I had missed the price (which I had). Still, it's a very nice card that exactly expresses my sentiment, so I went with it.

Today, we went to Disneyland. I kind of figured Disney would do something special for Mothers' Day, which they did -- flowers were given out to mothers.

Anyway, we got a late start, a couple of hours later than I had hoped. Hsuan, James, and I stayed at home for those hours with separate bouts of constipation, and we ended up leaving without relief. Mine got better later in the day, though.

(I got a new 2 GB SD card for the PowerShot A700. All that space is giving me a lot of room to experiment, using the full resolution of the camera when I want it, or giving me tons of space for lots more pictures when I scale back to more moderate resolutions, which is what I usually do anyway. After all, do I really need 6 megapixels for most of my point and shoots?)

The past couple of times that we've been to the French Market at Disneyland, the Swing Souffle was not the band performing for diners. I really liked them because they played such a large catalog of jazz pieces. The bands recently, while nice, don't seem nearly as sophisticated or as eclectic as Swing Souffle.

Still, James liked the music, apparently.

Another street band whose name I forgot performed in the afternoon near the train station in New Orleans Square. They tossed out bead necklaces to the small crowd during their performance. Both boys got a couple. In the picture, William crept nearer during their performance in a somewhat brazen attempt to get their attention for yet another necklace.

William felt unwell for part of the afternoon. Probably a combination of being tired and of drinking a lot of milk too fast, and he threw up in the men's room when I brought him there at lunch. It made us hesitant to do a lot of things during the afternoon. Luckily, James rode with me on Haunted Mansion and on the Winnie the Pooh ride, so James had some fun at least.

James wasn't terribly eager to meet actual characters, though. At least not the giant fuzzy animal kind. Hsuan mentioned that he tried to push Eeyore away. Oh, well.

On the other hand, I think he was okay with Aladdin and Jasmine. We attended a story-telling show featuring the characters and met with them afterward.

Oh, and apart from the usual Buzz Lightyear ride and Monster's Inc. (in California Adventure), William and I rode Autopia. William is getting much better at driving.

In the photo, I'm violating the warning about keeping my body parts in the moving vehicle, so I can take the picture.
