Vacation, Day 4

Animal Kingdom

Another late start. Hsuan actually got out of bed a few minutes before I did, but it was almost 10 AM regardless. We took the bus to the Animal Kingdom and did not arrive in time for the 10:40 AM show of the Festival of the Lion King, so we went to the 11:40 AM show instead. The wide screen of the HV20 made taping the show much easier than in the past, so I was able to watch it with my actual eyes, instead of in the camcorder viewscreen.

Watching the Festival of the Lion King.

It's my favorite show at Disney World.

We then went to the 1 PM showing of the new Finding Nemo -- The Musical. It's basically a retelling of the movi in musical form, with puppets and actors. Very good, and very popular.

We searched around for lunch, eventually stopping back at Pizzafari when lines at other restaurants seemed too daunting. Lunch took a while.

We then took the train to the Conservation Station. Got a photo with Rafiki. Petted goats in the Affection Section for quite a while. Met Jiminy Cricket for the first time, and William and James even hugged him. Met Pocahontas.

Petting the goats.

Meeting Jiminy Cricket for the first time.

Back in Africa, we took the Kilimanjaro Safari and the Pangani Forest, looking at meerkats, gorillas, etc. We found out too late that the Kids' Discovery Club locations closed at 5 PM.

James liked looking at the birds and fish.

Gorillas. How cool are they?

We then went to Dinoland USA, where we rode the Triceratops Spin ride. I was going to ride the Primeval Whirl with William, but we found that the height limit was 48". Instead, we grabbed siome french fries and a drink and went to catch the 7:30 PM showing of Festival of the Lion King before returning by bus to the Grand Floridian.

A second chance to catch my favorite show.

At 10 PM, we went down to the marina outside of Sugar Loaf to watch the Magic Kingdom Wishes fireworks show. A much better view than last night.

(There was a minor incident at the Conservation Station that I may write up later.)
