Vacation, Day 5

Magic Kingdom, second visit

I got up at 9 AM, Hsuan and the boys somewhat later I took a shower. Left the Grand Floridian after 10:15 AM, arriving by monorail at the Magic Kingdom and moving immediately to Tom Sawyer's Island. We spent well over an hour exploring the caves and the hills.

A sign on Tom Sawyer's Island.

The boys always love exploring the island.

In the fort, the boys took the opportunity to shoot at other visitors across the water.

Had lunch around 12:20 PM at Columbia House in Liberty Square. Fish, chicken, fries...

The Haunted Mansion.

We visited Haunted Mansion again after lunch. We then headed back to Tomorrowland, intending to ride the Indianapolis Speedway, but the line was huge. We got a fast pass to Buzz Lightyear, saw the Laugh Floor show, and then rode Buzz Lightyear in the standby line (which took only 20 minutes despite the 30 minute wait time sign).

We then went to catch the Share a Dream parade. I didn't feel like crowding up to the front of the line, though I tried with James -- who liked the crowd even less than I did. So we all stood back a ten or twenty feet from the front of the crowd and watched from a bit of a distance. Eventually, I let William ride my shoulders, and I taped a little.

After the parade, we used our Buzz Lightyear Fast Passes and then returned to the Grand Floridian at 3:45 PM for the 5 PM evening snacks (which are practically a light dinner of hors' doevres), naps, and freshening up.

James napping.

Around 7:30 PM, we headed back to the Magic Kingdom. We rode Aladdin’s Magic Carpets and then the Jungle Cruise. The boys spent some time playing with remote controlled boats. Around 9:40 PM, we caught the tail end of the Spectromagic Parade as it passed through Frontierland, and then we headed for Main Street to catch the Wishes fireworks. James and I got separated from Hsuan and William. I think James and I got the better view from the 8 o’clock position on the Panopticon.

After the fireworks, we rode the Indy Speedway. We tried to ride the Barnstormer in Toontown, but the kiddie coaster was closed. By now we were well into the Extra Magic Hours. Laugh Floor, Buzz Lightyear, Astro Orbiter rockets... I don’t recall if we rode the Blue Line again before returning to the Grand Floridian just after 1 AM.
