Swimming classes, but no pool at home

Today was the start of the second week of swimming classes for William and his friends from daycare. As usual, I went along in the morning, to accompany William and help out a little with the other kids. William is doing well, but it's getting to be hard to get some of the other kids in the water.

Despite the swimming lessons, we've been unable to swim at home. On the 19th, we had the pool drained to refill with fresh water. Meanwhile, we also had the pool acid-washed, which seems to have caused some cracking in the plaster, which we've had a lot of pain in getting the pool guys to repair. (Not that they're not willing to repair it; it just takes a very long time to get them around.) Plus, we've asked them to do a tile repair. Unfortunately, our pool tiles can't be found at retail any more, which means we're reusing the old tiles. To save money, I cleaned the backs of the old tiles myself with my newly-purchased Dremel tool.

Yesterday, after consulting with an Apple web page giving iPhone retail availability, I drove to the Brea Mall and arrived at 9 AM, finding a line of about 40 other people also hoping to buy an iPhone at the Apple Store there. As the Apple Store doors opened, an employee announced they didn't have any iPhones. I then got back into the Odyssey and drove to the mall at Rancho Cucamonga, hoping to get an iPhone there. I had Hsuan call them up, just in case, and it turned out they had only the 4 GB model, so I came back home.

After swimming class today, I went to Old Pasadena for lunch and to spend too much time hanging around the Apple Store, hoping for a shipment of iPhones to no avail. I finally just ordered one online.
