Last day of swimming classes

Not going to take more classes; swimming at home instead.

Today was William's and his daycare classmates' last day of swimming classes at the community center nearby. I think there are more sessions scheduled, but our daycare center hasn't enrolled anyone. Frankly, I'm getting tired of helping chaperone the kids to the swimming classes four mornings a week, and I'm sure the daycare center teachers are getting tired of it, too. Plus, it's been cutting into my work days.

We've attended three sessions (one 1 week session, two 2 week sessions), and historically, the daycare center attends only the first two sessions before the teachers get tired of it. As far as swimming classes for the kids, it's been a good summer.

If we had signed up for more sessions (potentially an option for William alone -- though I'd likely have to bring him to the class myself, again), William wouldn't have progressed to level 3 but would have continued in level 2. We'll stick instead with one hour of swimming at home most evenings. William is quite good, certainly better at swimming than I was at his age. He's also charmed the instructors with his being so willing to try out things that, a few weeks ago, he would have been frightened to try and which his classmates are still afraid of. The most telling example is jumping off the diving board -- he wanted to do it twice today. Only three or so of his daycare classmates did so today, and only once each. And most days, William is the only one of the daycare kids to jump off.

Walking to his last jump off the diving board. Still haven't gotten the iPhone camera shutter delay under control, so I don't have a photo of him actually jumping off the board today.

Speaking of work, I'm still having problems getting things done. Just tired, I guess. I got some figure revisions done this week. That's about it.

Oh, and I went to yoga class for the first time in weeks. Substitute teacher. Still, it was good to get back into it.
