2nd Degree Black Belt, and Piano

J took his second degree black belt test this weekend, and I think he did pretty well.

I’ve posted a lot about scouting with the boys, primarily because it’s an activity I really enjoy sharing with them, even if it’s way out of my comfort zone.

I’ve also posted a bit about W entering science fairs, a bit about Tae Kwon Do (e.g. above), and a bit about school.  and of course, I’ve posted about family vacations.

One thing I haven’t posted much about is about their music education and public performances (recitals).  This weekend was relatively busy, with a piano duet recital on Friday and a master class on Sunday.  Since I video record these performances, I thought I’d make a YouTube video of three of their performances.  In October, along with other students at the conservatory, both W and J performed solo piano pieces.  J performed a Sonatina by Kabalevsky, and W performed a selection of short piano pieces by Muczynski.  And on Friday, the boys performed a piano duet by Mozart (3rd movement of K19d).
