Four of my Ad Altare Dei scouts, including W, were presented with their medals (along with over a hundred other scouts) at a special presentation Mass this afternoon at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Angels in downtown LA. Archbishop Gomez presided and handed each scout his or her medals. (Venture scouting is coed, and Venture Scouts are eligible for AAD.)
My fifth scout was out of town today. I picked up his medal and will present it to him at the Troop meeting tomorrow.
It turns out I’ll probably also have to present their religious emblem square knot patches as well, as our scoutmasters haven’t gotten to it, and we don’t have an existing stock.
After the ceremony, we and lots of other people took photos — a big group shot with the Archbishop, and then a lot of smaller groups (see above) around the cathedral.
