Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year

We had a pretty good Christmas season this year.  J performed for the last time at his school’s lower school holiday musical program.  W was scheduled to serve at early evening vigil Mass, but he was rescheduled to Holy Family Mass on Sunday.

The boys got a lot of Xbox games and related things.  J finally got Minecraft for Xbox, which he was surprised and frankly ecstatic to get.  Unfortunately, in order to get on the Internet, we have to have Xbox Live, which I don’t want to pay for.

Hsuan’s relatives showed up on Christmas Day.  The relatives included her uncle, who works at APL, and her cousin Alan, who was a Caltech undergraduate, so I have some things in common with them.  They had wanted to go out for Chinese food, but I had insisted on frying up a Christmas turkey dinner.  William and I did the turkey, just as at Thanksgiving, but we added a Sriracha rub after the overnight brine.  The result was a remarkably tangy turkey skin.

Finally, Hsuan and I got Apple Watches.  I convinced her to get one and to let me get one, on sale for $100 off at Target.  It was probably the least effort I’ve put into successfully convincing her of anything.
