Semifinalist

For Labor Day, we went to California Adventure and rode Tower of Terror (soon to be re-themed for Guardians of the Galaxy), the new Soarin over the World, some Cars Land rides, California Screamin’, and Toy Story Midway Mania.  J was scared on Tower and Screamin’, but he pulled through.

Then we had dinner at Napa Rose.  The photo above is of W’s chocolate mousse, with such a perfect chocolate glaze (including gold flakes) that I had to take a photo.

W was nominated for the Broadcom Masters competition again this year, for his first place finish at the LA County Science Fair.  We worked on his Broadcom Masters application while I was away at Texas A&M.

Today, we found out he was selected as a semifinalist, one of 300 out of over 2000 applicants (winners from science fairs across the country).  We’re incredibly proud of him, and one of his former teachers at his middle school — the one who was his “teacher” for the science fair (I was his actual mentor) — is also proud.
