Spectacularly Narcissistic

DSCN0422

I thought this was worth a separate entry.

In my much younger days, I would have had a lot more vacation photos that would have had included more hot babes in bikinis.  Certainly, I would have noticed them more.  But I’m older now, and while I certainly still appreciate beautiful young women, I don’t find them as irresistible any more.  Also, Disney Aulani is definitely a family-oriented resort, with lots of little kids.

So, my photos were mostly of my family, the resort, lots of turtles, the beach, fish, and so on.  I had to dig to find something remotely looking like a bikini.

Which isn’t to say that I don’t remember young women in bikinis.

Oh, I remember them.

What I remember most was young women in their teens to twenties walking around in groups of four to six, wearing little bikinis, and carrying GoPro cameras on extensible monopods taking selfie stills or videos of themselves and each other walking around and into and out of the pools and hot tubs.

These colossal displays of spectacular narcissism were both disgusting and hilarious.

And they were not uncommon, since I saw more than one such group over the vacation.  It may be a fad or something among the young nowadays.

And in case you’re wondering, I saw no similar displays of narcisissm among groups of young men of about the same age.  (For that matter, now that I think of it, I don’t recall seeing gatherings of more than two or three young men in their teens or twenties, not even playing volleyball at the beach.  Not their scene, I guess.)
